This Refund Policy explains when Dragon's Quill may issue refunds for paid reader features, including Early Access chapters, Individual Chapter Unlocks, Next-5 Bundles, Binge Packages, Story Subscriptions, and other paid content or subscription features.
This Refund Policy is part of the Dragon's Quill Terms of Service and applies together with the Reader Purchase and Subscription Terms, Author Monetization Terms, Payout Policy, and any checkout notices shown at the time of purchase.
By purchasing, subscribing, or using paid features on Dragon's Quill, you agree to this Refund Policy.
1. General Rule
Dragon's Quill sells access to digital content.
Digital purchases are generally final once access is granted.
However, Dragon's Quill may issue full or partial refunds in limited situations described in this policy, required by law, or approved by Dragon's Quill in its discretion.
Refunds are not guaranteed unless required by applicable law.
2. Early Access Reminder
Dragon's Quill's primary paid-content model is Early Access.
Early Access means readers may pay to read Advance Chapters before those chapters become free or broadly available.
Readers are paying for early access, not permanent exclusivity.
A chapter becoming free later according to its Free Release Date, author release settings, or Dragon's Quill policy is not, by itself, a refund reason.
3. Purchases Covered by This Policy
This Refund Policy applies to:
- Individual Chapter Unlocks;
- Next-5 Bundles;
- Binge Packages;
- Story Subscriptions;
- subscription renewals;
- other paid reader features Dragon's Quill may offer.
This policy does not apply to off-platform payments, third-party author stores, donations outside Dragon's Quill, crowdfunding platforms, external subscriptions, or purchases made outside Dragon's Quill's checkout system.
4. Situations That Are Usually Refundable or Reviewable
Dragon's Quill may issue a full or partial refund in the following situations.
4.1 Duplicate Charge
If you were charged more than once for the same purchase or subscription because of a system error, duplicate checkout, or processing issue, Dragon's Quill will review the transaction and may refund the duplicate charge.
4.2 Platform Bug Prevented Access
If you successfully paid for content but Dragon's Quill's platform failed to grant access, and Dragon's Quill cannot restore access within a reasonable time, Dragon's Quill may issue a refund.
You may be asked to provide information such as:
- your Dragon's Quill account email;
- the story title;
- the chapter or subscription involved;
- the purchase date;
- receipt or transaction details;
- screenshots or error messages, if available.
Dragon's Quill may first attempt to fix the access issue before issuing a refund.
4.3 Wrong Content Unlocked
If a Dragon's Quill system error caused the wrong chapter, bundle, Binge Package, or subscription to be unlocked, Dragon's Quill may correct the access grant, issue a full or partial refund, or provide another appropriate remedy.
4.4 Fraud or Unauthorized Charge
If you believe a charge was fraudulent or unauthorized, contact Dragon's Quill promptly.
Dragon's Quill may investigate, work with the Payment Processor, restrict affected access, issue a refund where appropriate, or direct you to your bank, card issuer, or Payment Processor.
Dragon's Quill may restrict accounts involved in fraud, stolen payment methods, unauthorized access, chargeback abuse, or suspicious payment activity.
4.5 Paid Content Removed Shortly After Purchase
If paid content is removed, unpublished, disabled, or made unavailable shortly after purchase, Dragon's Quill may review the situation and may issue a full or partial refund.
Dragon's Quill may consider:
- how long the content was available after purchase;
- whether the reader had access before removal;
- whether the removal was caused by author action;
- whether the removal was caused by moderation, copyright, legal, safety, or payment-processor requirements;
- whether the content is expected to be restored;
- whether access can be corrected another way;
- whether the purchase was part of a bundle, Binge Package, or subscription.
- Content removal is not automatically refundable in every case.
4.6 Required by Law
Dragon's Quill will provide refunds where required by applicable law.
5. Situations That Are Usually Not Refundable
The following situations usually do not qualify for a refund.
5.1 Reader Disliked the Chapter or Story
Dragon's Quill does not usually provide refunds because a reader disliked a chapter, story, author, writing style, plot direction, character decision, ending, genre shift, or update.
5.2 Reader Changed Their Mind
Dragon's Quill does not usually provide refunds because a reader changed their mind after access was granted.
5.3 Reader Did Not Read the Content
Dragon's Quill does not usually provide refunds because a reader did not read, forgot to read, stopped reading, or did not use purchased access.
5.4 Chapter Later Became Free
Dragon's Quill does not provide refunds merely because an Early Access chapter later became free as scheduled.
Early Access means read first, not exclusive forever.
5.5 Forgotten Subscription Cancellation
Dragon's Quill does not usually provide refunds because a reader forgot to cancel a subscription before renewal.
Dragon's Quill may review renewal refund requests case by case, especially where required by law, where there was a platform error, where cancellation tools failed, or where the circumstances are unusual.
5.6 Author Update Pace or Story Direction
Dragon's Quill does not usually provide refunds because an author updates more slowly than expected, changes the story direction, pauses a story, or fails to meet a reader's personal expectations.
However, Dragon's Quill may take separate action if a subscription story becomes stale, misleading, inactive, or lacks meaningful Advance Content under Dragon's Quill's subscription health rules.
5.7 Wrong Account Used
Dragon's Quill does not usually provide refunds because a reader purchased while signed into the wrong Dragon's Quill account.
Dragon's Quill may review account-mistake issues case by case where technically feasible.
6. Subscription Refunds
Story Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled before renewal, unless the checkout page or applicable law says otherwise.
Canceling a subscription usually stops future renewals but does not automatically refund the current Subscription Period.
If you cancel during a paid Subscription Period, you usually keep access until the end of that period.
Dragon's Quill may issue a subscription refund in limited cases, such as:
- duplicate charge;
- failed cancellation caused by a platform error;
- billing error;
- fraudulent or unauthorized charge;
- subscription access could not be provided because of a platform issue;
- the subscribed story's paid content was removed or unavailable shortly after renewal;
- refund required by law;
- other case-by-case support situations Dragon's Quill approves.
If Dragon's Quill refunds a subscription payment, Dragon's Quill may end subscription access for the refunded period.
7. Bundles and Binge Packages
Refunds for Next-5 Bundles and Binge Packages may be full or partial depending on the situation.
Dragon's Quill may consider:
- which chapters were included;
- whether access was successfully granted;
- whether some chapters were read or accessed;
- whether only part of the included content was affected;
- whether content later became free as scheduled;
- whether content was removed shortly after purchase;
- whether the issue was caused by a platform error, author action, moderation action, or payment issue.
Future Advance Chapters are not included in past Binge Packages unless the checkout page expressly says otherwise.
Dragon's Quill does not provide refunds merely because an author later publishes more Advance Chapters after a Binge Package purchase.
8. Refund Effect on Access
If Dragon's Quill issues a full refund, Dragon's Quill may revoke the access granted by the refunded purchase or subscription unless the content is now free or Dragon's Quill decides otherwise.
If Dragon's Quill issues a partial refund, Dragon's Quill may decide whether access remains, is limited, or is revoked based on the reason for the refund.
Refunds may affect:
- chapter access;
- bundle access;
- Binge Package access;
- subscription access;
- purchase history;
- author earnings;
- author payout records;
- account status where fraud or abuse is involved.
Purchase and refund records may remain in your account or Dragon's Quill's internal systems for legal, tax, accounting, payment, support, dispute, fraud-prevention, moderation, and compliance purposes.
9. Refund Effect on Authors
Refunds may reduce, reverse, or eliminate author earnings from the refunded transaction.
If author earnings from the refunded transaction have not yet been paid out, Dragon's Quill may deduct the refund from pending earnings.
If author earnings from the refunded transaction have already been paid out, Dragon's Quill may create a negative author ledger balance, offset future earnings, request repayment, hold payouts, or take other action permitted by the Author Monetization Terms and Payout Policy.
Authors do not have final approval over reader refunds.
Dragon's Quill may issue refunds when Dragon's Quill determines that a refund is appropriate, required by law, necessary for reader trust, or necessary to protect the platform.
10. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
If you dispute a Dragon's Quill charge through your bank, card issuer, payment provider, or Payment Processor, Dragon's Quill may treat the transaction as disputed.
A chargeback or payment dispute may result in:
- access being paused or revoked;
- subscription cancellation;
- account review;
- purchase restrictions;
- author payout holds;
- author ledger adjustments;
- evidence submission to the Payment Processor;
- account restriction if Dragon's Quill believes dispute or chargeback systems are being abused.
If you are experiencing an access issue, Dragon's Quill encourages you to contact support before filing a chargeback so Dragon's Quill can try to resolve the issue.

- screenshots, error messages, or documentation if relevant.

- Dragon's Quill may ask for additional information before deciding a refund request.
12. Refund Timing and Method
Approved refunds are usually returned to the original payment method through Dragon's Quill's Payment Processor.
Refund timing depends on the Payment Processor, bank, card issuer, payment method, country, currency, and other third-party processing factors.
Dragon's Quill does not control how long a bank, card issuer, or Payment Processor takes to post a refund after Dragon's Quill initiates it.
Dragon's Quill generally does not provide refunds as site credits, coins, wallet balances, or stored platform value in the MVP.
13. Abuse of Refunds
Dragon's Quill may deny refund requests, restrict purchases, restrict subscriptions, revoke access, or restrict accounts if Dragon's Quill believes a user is abusing refunds, chargebacks, disputes, payment systems, access systems, or support processes.
Refund abuse may include:
- repeatedly purchasing and requesting refunds after reading;
- making false access-failure claims;
- using chargebacks instead of contacting support;
- using stolen payment methods;
- exploiting bugs;
- creating multiple accounts to obtain refunds;
- coordinating refund abuse with others;
- threatening authors or Dragon's Quill to obtain refunds improperly.
14. Changes to This Refund Policy
Dragon's Quill may update this Refund Policy from time to time.
If Dragon's Quill makes material changes, Dragon's Quill may provide notice by posting the updated policy, changing the "Last Updated" date, emailing users, showing an in-product notice, updating checkout notices, or using another reasonable method.
Refund requests are generally reviewed under the policy in effect at the time of purchase, unless applicable law or Dragon's Quill's discretion provides otherwise.

- digital purchases are generally final once access is granted;
- Early Access means read first, not exclusive forever;
- chapters may later become free;
- a chapter becoming free later is not, by itself, a refund reason;
- refunds are limited;
- subscription renewal refunds are not guaranteed merely because you forgot to cancel;
- approved refunds may revoke access;
- refunds may reduce or reverse author earnings;
Dragon's Quill may deny refund requests that appear abusive, fraudulent, unsupported, or outside this policy.
