Dragon's Quill is a home for serialized fiction and the communities that form around it. This policy explains the content and conduct standards that help readers and authors use the platform safely and fairly.
This policy applies together with the Terms of Service, Copyright and DMCA Policy, Mature Content and Monetization Eligibility Policy, and other posted Dragon's Quill policies.
1. Where This Policy Applies
This policy applies to stories, chapters, titles, blurbs, descriptions, author notes, profiles, comments, reviews, messages, reports, links, and other material submitted to Dragon's Quill.
2. Prohibited Content and Conduct
Do not use Dragon's Quill to create, solicit, promote, facilitate, or distribute illegal activity; sexual exploitation or sexual content involving minors; explicit pornographic content written primarily for sexual gratification; targeted threats; violent extremist or terrorist recruitment, propaganda, or material support; illegal goods or services; unlawful gambling; fraud or scams; unlicensed money transmission; payment evasion; hateful conduct; targeted harassment; unauthorized copying or other intellectual-property violations; ban evasion; spam; or deceptive activity.
Fiction may depict difficult, criminal, violent, or otherwise sensitive subjects without endorsing them. Dragon's Quill considers context, purpose, presentation, severity, and applicable law when reviewing content.
Mature themes may be allowed under the Mature Content and Monetization Eligibility Policy. Content that may remain available for free may still be ineligible for monetization.
3. Programmatic Text Screening
Dragon's Quill programmatically screens creator-submitted story metadata, chapter titles and bodies, author notes, and profile text when that text is saved. The screening uses locally operated rules to identify signals associated with prohibited or monetization-ineligible content.
A match is a safety signal, not necessarily a final violation. Automated rules cannot understand every fictional context and may produce false positives. Matched content is routed to a protected administrator review queue for human assessment.
Dragon's Quill records the matched policy category, rule, limited surrounding excerpt, severity, time, and review outcome. Detailed detection rules may be withheld where disclosure would make evasion easier.
4. What Happens After a Match
A review match pauses new monetization for the affected content. A severe, high-confidence match may also keep a story or chapter in draft while review is pending. Existing reader access and financial records are handled under the applicable purchase, refund, payout, and deletion policies.
After reviewing context, an administrator may approve the content, mark the match as a false positive, allow publication without monetization, require edits, restrict monetization, remove content, or take account action where warranted.
Authors may revise matched text and save it again for a new scan. A later clear scan does not automatically override an administrator hold or a completed enforcement decision.
5. Reports and Human Review
Programmatic screening supplements rather than replaces reports and manual moderation. Users may report suspected violations through Dragon's Quill's reporting tools. Reports must be submitted in good faith and must not be used to harass authors, suppress lawful content, or manipulate competition.
Dragon's Quill may prioritize urgent safety matters, preserve evidence, request more information, consult qualified advisers, and report matters to payment processors or authorities where appropriate or legally required.
6. Copyright and Plagiarism
Programmatic rules may flag statements that suggest unauthorized copying, but they do not compare every work against the wider internet, decide ownership, or replace the formal notice-and-counter-notice process in the Copyright and DMCA Policy.
7. Appeals and Corrections
Where Dragon's Quill offers an appeal, explain the relevant context and identify the affected story, chapter, or account. Dragon's Quill may uphold, modify, or reverse a decision. Appeals do not guarantee restoration of publication, monetization, payouts, or account access.
8. Policy Changes
Dragon's Quill may update this policy as its moderation experience, legal obligations, safety risks, and payment-processor requirements change. Authors may be required to accept an updated version before publishing or monetizing content.
9. Contact
Questions about this policy may be submitted through the contact form on the About page or by email to admin@dragonsquill.net. Use the reporting tools for concerns about specific content.
